Day 20 - Garnish

The garnish makes the drink!

Garnishes can alter the flavour & aroma of your drink, pick the right one and it can enhance the botanicals (or hide the ones you don’t like!)

I do like to play with my garnishes when I have time and have a number of herbs growing in pots in my garden… miraculously I’ve managed not to kill them… maybe as a result of not touching them other than to pinch a few leaves 🤣 and I’ve also found that my deer, although eating everything else in my garden, don’t touch the herbs 🤷‍♀️

I like to use bits of tree and flowers too especially Whin flowers which smell of coconut and vanilla.

Most of the time though I don’t have the time or inclination to faff so my go to garnishes are the fabulous dehydrated garnishes from @fruitanicals!

I started buying Fruitanicals garnishes when I was in @sipandshareuk and Sam & Mark provided some perfect pairings for one of the online tasting sessions and that was when I realised how great they were.
Not only do they look fabulous but they are far more economical and eco-friendly than constantly buying fresh fruit only to use a couple of slices, or a bit of peel, and wasting the rest.

And if stored in airtight jars (like this one bought from Fruitancals) they last for ages and ages.

I have mine stored with food safe silica packets to keep them from getting moist. My last order was catering size packs one a year ago and they are still good and still smell amazing because I’ve stored them right…which is lucky because I’ve cut my drinking right down so didn’t get through them as fast as I thought I might!
They also do smaller packs too.

Fabulous, beautiful and quick garnishes created by really lovely people, and they taste amazing too… especially when they’ve absorbed some drink 😁

A favourite for those who want that added sweetness to their spirit or cocktail. It’s looks, aroma and taste simply can’t be beaten.

Works wonderfully when partnered with citrus, particularly lime and grapefruit. Versatility across different spirits is another strength of the pineapple and our personal favourite match is with a spiced rum and coke.

Pineapple is another across our range that you must not waste at the end of your drink. Rehydrated with your favourite spirit or cocktail flavours makes for a delicious and ‘kind of’ healthy snack!

Our pineapples are Costa Rican and the Sweet Gold variety.
